Red Nose Day 3D
Job undertaken by:- FREELANCER : GIANCARLO
1. Original Martin Lambie Nairn illustrationsBack in summer 2008 Lambie Nairn contacted me with a view to realising the preliminary designs for this years nose in 3D. As the nose itself was to be made in China there were certain limitations placed on the physical dimensions.
2. 3D VisualisationThis was the first time i had worked on a model that was to be made practically. Once the 3D renders were viewed from different angles, it was necessary to dial back the mouth. This had more to do with manufacturing limitations than design choice. There were many iterations of the look for the 3 noses and Sainsburys` were looking to make some 7 million units so they really needed to have a broad appeal.

3. Design change
At one stage in the process there was a radical change in the design suggested. A 2D decal look mapped to the nose. Although this was a strong clean look, i personally liked this more, it seemed that Sainsburys were keen to remain with the full 3D feel.
Job done and happy smiles all round ! The day was a huge success with an incredible, record breaking, 53 million pounds donated thus far.
